Praise from Iniesta as Xavi prepares to draw curtain on his Barca career

Xinhua, May 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

It is very much starting to look as if FC Barcelona midfielder, Xavi Hernandez is on the verge of announcing his departure from the club where he has spent all his career.

Although Xavi has yet to make any comment about his situation, he is expected to give a press conference later this week to confirm a move to Qatar and his father Joaquin Hernandez has already commented in the Spanish press that his son has "had the good fortune," to receive a good offer.

Meanwhile his teammate Andres Iniesta, with whom Xavi has shared so many successes over the past years, also spoke of his admiration for the 35-year-old who has made 764 first team appearances, winning eight BBVA Primera Liga and three Champions League titles among the host of silverware his hast lifted at Barcelona.

"It's impossible to say enough to praise Xavi," said Iniesta. "I can't find the words which are grand enough to say the level he is at as both a player and as a footballer. There statistics, the years, the feeling, the way his does things is just above any other praise."

Xavi, Iniesta said was "a unique footballer, unrepeatable and he has been vital to the club and to the Spanish national team."

"It is a true pleasure and a privilege to have been at his side for all of my career," he said. Endi
