China Voice: "Common destiny" reflects China's vision of world

Xinhua, May 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese leaders have repeatedly conveyed the message of building "a community of common destiny", reflecting China's sincere wish to build a better world together with other countries.

China's development and reform is linked with not only the welfare of Chinese people, but also the peace and prosperity of the entire world. China and other countries are part of a community with shared interests, duties and destiny.

A country should accommodate the legitimate concerns of others when pursuing its own interests and promote common development of all countries when advancing its own development.

China is stepping up efforts, along with the rest of the world, to promote regional and global prosperity.

Politically, China has written the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence into its Constitution, advocating mutual benefit, respect, equality and non-interference.

Economically, as the world's second largest economy and top trading partner for 130 plus countries, China has established various partnerships with more than 70 countries and regions by 2014, which will continue to expand.

The China-proposed Silk Road Economic Belt, 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank along with other investment projects are opening up infinite opportunities for other countries.

China is a peace-loving country since ancient times, and has been a firm defender of the legacy of world anti-fascism victory.

China observes a defensive policy in national defense and limits its annual military budget to less than 1.5 percent of GDP, yet it has been active in efforts to help maintain world peace and stability.

Among the five permanent security council members of the UN, China has dispatched the most peacekeepers and medical personnel in UN peacekeeping missions.

In the case of war-torn Yemen, the Chinese Navy helped evacuate 629 Chinese nationals and 279 foreign citizens in March.

China's efforts have also contributed greatly to joint actions on global challenges, safeguarding common interests in various areas such as anti-terrorism, prevention of pandemic diseases and humanitarian relief.

Its aid efforts in quake-hit Nepal in April are a clear representation of its efforts to build a community of common destiny among neighboring countries.

China has expressed its wish and has been working earnestly to join hands with other countries to promote common prosperity. That should be evident to all who are without prejudice. Endi
