29 children saved after rainstorm traps school bus

Xinhua, May 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Twenty-nine children were saved after their school bus was trapped in a tunnel by rainstorms Monday in east China's Jiangxi Province, local authorities said.

The kindergarten school bus in Xinyu City was trapped at Yudongdadao at around 3 p.m.. The bus was stalled and all the wheels were submerged.

Three traffic police officers carried all children to a safe place in half an hour. A driver and a teacher were also on board.

"By the time we transferred the last child, two third of the bus was submerged," said Peng Haijun, a traffic police officer.

Police warned drivers to avoid flooded roads during rainy days. Endite
