Britain condemns bomb attack in Kabul

Xinhua, May 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on Sunday condemned a bomb attack in Kabul, which killed at least three people, including a British security contractor.

"This is the second attack in a matter of days for which the Taliban have claimed responsibility and I strongly condemn their cowardly actions," Hammond said in a statement.

"I can confirm that a British security contractor is among those killed in the attack. His family has been informed and my thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time," he added.

He noted that two Afghan women have also lost their lives and many more have been injured.

"These attacks must not stop the people of Afghanistan, with the support of the international community, working towards a more peaceful future," he urged.

The foreign secretary said British consular staff stood ready to provide support. Endit
