French museums celebrate 11th European Night of Museums

Xinhua, May 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

More than 1,300 French museums celebrated Saturday night the 11th European Night of Museums, an event held in every spring since 2005 and participated by more than 3,000 museums in Europe.

On this occasion, the museums offer free admission to visitors to "discover their collections in a festive and unusual context," according to the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Programs for the 11th edition of the European Night of Museums in France include interactive journey, informed tours, performances, concerts and workshops.

"I found a museum which I'll never visit if it had not been opened tonight with an animation in the building's courtyard that caught my curiosity," said Louise, a 22-year-old student, at the exit of the Museum of Hunting and Nature in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.

In Europe, more than 30 countries also celebrated the 11th European Night of Museums Saturday, particularly in the UK where hundreds of museums and galleries participated in the operation "Museums at Night." Endit
