General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong attended the inauguration ceremony of a monument dedicated to late President Ho Chi Minh here on Sunday.

Addressing the ceremony, Trong said the monument inauguration, which took place on the occasion of the 125th birthday of the Vietnamese hero of national liberalization, is an important event of political and cultural significance.

The 7.2-meter monument, including a 4.5-meter statue, is erected in front of the office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at Nguyen Hue Square near the Nguyen Hue Street, Vietnam 's sole pedestrian street.

The sculpture features the spirit and personality of Ho Chi Minh as well as his special love for local people, especially those from the city. Earlier, the statue of the late leader meeting children was relocated to the municipal Children's House.

Also on Sunday morning, party leader Trong and other Vietnamese and Ho Chi Minh City officials visited a photo exhibition themed " Uncle Ho with the South." Endi
