Tajikistan's Istiqlol claimed top spot in Group C in the 2015 AFC Cup with a 5-2 victory over Turkmenistan's Ahal FC in Dushanbe on Wednesday, Tajikistan's Football Federation (TFF) said Thursday.

Manuchehr Jalilov gave Istiqlol FC the lead after just 10 minutes and, in the 28th minute, Hurshed Mahmudov doubled the advantage when he hammered the ball home from inside the penalty area.

Jalilov scored twice as the Tajik side climbed above reigning champions Kuwait's Qadsia

Sporting Club is at the summit of Group C to set up a meeting with Syria's Al Wahda in Dushanbe on May 26.

"I'm very happy with the result and team performance. The players played beautiful and attacking football for our fans and we achieved an important victory," said Istiqlol head coach Mubin Ergashev.

"We played against the two finalists of last year's tournament and took first place. We want to continue in our way," Ergashev said. Endi
