Former Nigeria's manager seeks regular training for coaches

Xinhua, May 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Shaibu Amodu has called for a regular training program for indigenous coaches in order to sustain its grassroots football program.

Amodu made the call at the ongoing CAF C-License Coaching Course for Nigerian coaches in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.

Grassroots football would be the greatest achievement of Nigerian football if the program was strictly followed, he added.

The program will manifest in the national team once it is meticulously followed from the grassroots level, Amodu said.

"If you nurture them properly, the national coaches, players' selectors will be able to get reservoirs of players to select from, and then, we will begin to see the era of talented players," he added.

About 10 instructors, including a former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde, is among the resource persons for the program.

The program, which began on May 11, will end on May 23. Endi
