New application allows Albanian citizens to report crime online with smartphones

Albanian Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Innovation Wednesday launched new application "The Digital Police Office", which is designed to involve Albanian population directly in the crime-fighting activities of the police as it allows all citizens to quickly report via a smartphone their concerns over various crimes and offences.

"We are working to revive dignity in the ranks of the Albanian police force," Albanian Interior Minister Tahiri said, adding that

the new innovative is to engage online with the Albanian citizens and involve them in fighting crimes.

According to Tahiri, the application will give a fresh impetus to the cooperation between police and the community. The new application will allow citizens to report a crime online using their smartphones and follow the instructions without the need to visit a police station.

Albanian Minister of Innovation Milena Harito underlined that technology and the innovative applications are the best way to make life easier for the citizens as part of the services offered by their government.

"The use of technology and innovation is an important instrument in the hands of the citizens to ease and cut procedures. Over the past two years, the government has launched a series of initiatives which have yielded concrete results," Harito added. Endit
