Prices of corn, wheat and soybean futures trading at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) all settled a little higher Wednesday.
The most active corn contract for July delivery added 1.25 cents, or 0.35 percent, to close at 3.6225 U.S. dollars per bushel. Wheat for July delivery rose 1 cents, or 0.21 percent, to settle at 4.815 dollars per bushel. July soybeans gained 1.75 cents, or 0. 18 percent, to end at 9.5725 dollars per bushel.
Corn futures settled higher as a report showed corn ethanol yields continue to improve, analysts said. The weekly ethanol production report released Wednesday by U.S. Energy Information Administration showed that the weekly ethanol production till May 8 was 0.912 million barrels per day, up from 0.887 million last week, but U.S. ethanol stocks dropped to 853 million gallons, down 2.1 percent. Soybean gained on bargain buying after falling sharply a day earlier, according to analysts. Soybeans witnessed a technical trade in the morning, said Agresource, a Chicago-based research Institute, adding that CBOT floor brokers estimated that funds have bought 3,200 contracts of soybeans before midday.
