EU calls for member states' further efforts to support recovery

Xinhua, May 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Commission here on Wednesday adopted country-specific economic policy recommendations for 2015 and 2016, calling for member states' further efforts to support a robust recovery.

The recommendations also asked for national actions to create jobs and stimulate growth, according to a European Commission press release.

The recommendations reflected the priorities such as boosting investment to support future growth, delivering structural reforms, and pursuing responsible fiscal policies.

The European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis said that strengthening the European economic recovery required further decisive policy efforts, noting that many member states faced challenges such as high public and private debt, low productivity and lack of investment.

The Commission made recommendations for 26 countries and for the euro area. As Greece and Cyprus were implementing macroeconomic adjustment programs, the two countries did not receive a recommendation. Endit
