Chinese students to learn entrepreneurial skills

Xinhua, May 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese college students will learn entrepreneurial know-how as part of the compulsory curriculum, according to the State Council on Wednesday.

China will reform college education on innovation and entrepreneurial know-how in an all-around manner for 2015, said a State Council statement.

Among proposals listed, universities are asked to design both compulsory and elective curricula to coach students on start-ups and translate these curricula to open-source online courses.

Universities are also asked to feature more seminars and discussions in classes, to nurture critical thinking and creativity, and to inspire students to innovate and be entrepreneurial.

Universities will set up more flexible study schemes for students aspiring to start up their own businesses, including allowing them to take gap years.

Other plans include building innovation labs in schools, training teachers, using big data technology to study students' learning behavior and demands.

The State Council ordered education authorities and universities to make their own plans to implement the reform. Endi
