7 foreign migrants freeze to death in eastern Turkey

Seven illegal migrants were found freeze to death in eastern Turkey near neighboring Iran early Wednesday, private Dogan news agency reported.

Turkish soldiers found the seven dead, one woman and six children, were from a group of 33 migrants, who tried to cross into Caldiran town of Van province near Iran, according to the report.

Eight Afghan migrants, who are gravely ill, were taken to a hospital for medical treatment while 18 others were sent to the Turkish military, said the report.

An investigation into this incident was underway, added the report. Enditem
