France's inflation slightly up in April

Xinhua, May 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

French statistics institute Insee on Wednesday announced a 0.1 percent rise of French inflation rate in April after it had increased by 0.7 percent a month earlier.

"The slight rise in consumer prices in April was due mainly to increases, partially seasonal, in prices of some services and manufactured products and to firmer petroleum product prices," Insee said in its monthly report.

The index was also up by 0.1 percent year-on-year.

The agency data showed a monthly increase of 0.1 percent of manufactured goods while costs of clothes gained 0.6 percent following the "introduction of new collections."

Over the same period, services prices inched up by 0.1 percent while those of energy were up once again by 0.2 percent compared to March.

According to Insee, French core-inflation indicator grew by 0.1 percent in April, and up 0.4 percent year on year. Endit
