Tokyo shares end higher on better Japanese economic outlook

Tokyo shares erased losses in the morning and rebounded higher by ending the trading Wednesday as sentiment here was boost by optimism over the Japanese economy and domestic earnings.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rebounded 139.88 points, or 0.71 percent, higher from Tuesday at 19,764.72.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.94 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,604. 21.

Gainers were led by nonferrous metals, metal products and other products.

The turnover was about 2,921.3 billion yen (about 24.36 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
