James' 38 points take Cavs for 3-2 series lead over Bulls

LeBron James scored 38 points, Kyrie Irving added 25 as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls 106-101 on Tuesday to take a 3-2 lead in their NBA Eastern Conference semifinals.

James also added 12 rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks. J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson finished with 12 points apeice.

"LeBron was just outstanding, every element of the game," Cavs coach David Blatt said.

The Bulls were missing big man Pau Gasol, who sat out his second straight game with a strained left hamstring. Jimmy Butler scored 29 and Mike Dunleavy grabbed 19 points for Chicago. Derrick Rose scored 16, 12 in the first quarter.

The Cavs led by 17 with 6:09 left before the Bulls surged a strong comeback to cut the deficit to 99-101 on Butler's 3-pointer with 1:18 left. Cleveland then got a crucial offensive rebound by Iman Shumpert before Irving making four free throws in the final 17 seconds. Endi
