Chinese envoy urges int'l community to respect choice of Bosnia and Herzegovina for development

Chinese envoy here stressed that the international community should fully respect the choice of the government and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their path of development.
Wang Min, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, made the remarks at a Security Council meeting on the question of Bosnia and Herzegovina held at the UN headquarters in New York City Tuesday.
"China respects the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and China believes that it has the sovereign right to choose its own path of development and foreign policies," said Wang.
Noting that economic development and national reconstruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to face complications and difficulties, Wang said the country needs continued support and help from the international community for attaining sustainable development in the economic and social fields and for lasting peace and stability.
"The international community should take a balanced and prudent approach in the question of Bosnia and Herzegovina in full respect of the ownership and the independence of the people of the country with the view to enhancing unity and achieving harmonious development for the benefits of all communities," said Wang, pledging that China is ready to join the rest of the international community in a continued effort to contribute to lasting peace, stability and development in the European country.
