Xinhua, May 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Authorities in Beijing have put eight new firefighting motorcycles into operation near the city center to help tackle emergencies.

The motorcycles can get into narrow lanes and other areas that normal firefighting vehicles cannot, the firefighting brigade of the Imperial Palace, or the Forbidden City, said in a statement.

They can run up to 200 km per hour, so can arrive to help tackle small fires and other emergencies quickly, it said.

They will operate in areas including the Imperial Palace and Tian'anmen Square. Endi
