Twin bombing kills at least 4 in Syria's Homs

Xinhua, May 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least four people were killed and 28 others wounded on Tuesday by a twin blast in Syria's central city of Homs, the state news agency SANA reported.

Two booby-trapped motorcycles went off in Wadi Adhab area and Arman districts, both largely inhabited minority Alawites, an offshoot of Shiite Islam, to whom the ruling elite in Syria belongs.

Citing a source in Homs, SANA said government-run hospitals are treating those injured in the blasts, most of whom women and children.

Homs governor Talal Barazi said the blasts "expose the criminal and dark mentality of those carrying out the explosions."

Barazi stressed that the Syrian army will continue to fight against terrorist groups.

Rebels have repeatedly targeted government-controlled areas in Homs with booby-trapped cars and suicide bombings.

A bombing attack last October near an elementary school in Homs killed at least 32 people, including 10 children. Endit
