Duda wins first round of presidential elections in Poland

The official results of the Sunday's presidential elections in Poland indicate that Andrzej Duda from Law and Justice party received 34.76 percent of all votes, thus winning the first round.

The current President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski (backed by Civic Platform party) was second and scored 33.77 percent of all votes.

The third place was taken by Pawel Kukiz, a popular musician, who scored 20.8 percent.

These results mean that on May 24th Poland will have the second round of the elections as none of the candidates won over 50 percent of all votes. The second round will involve only Duda and Komorowski, who are two candidates with the highest score in the first round.

The Polish National Election Commission also announced that out of 30 million eligible voters in Poland, only 48.96 percent voted in Sunday's elections. Endit
