Mainz extend contract with midfielder Yunus Malli

Xinhua, May 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mainz extends the expiring contract of midfielder Yunus Malli until 2018, the Bundesliga club announced on Monday.

The Under-21 German international inked a three-year contract extension that keeps him at the "Nullfuenfer" until June 2018.

"Yunus Malli joined the club four years ago as a 19 year old talent. With diligence and patience he worked his way up to become a regular in the Bundesliga. We are convinced that he can still evolve his skills and delighted that he will continue with us," Mainz manager Christian Heidel said.

Malli joined Mainz in 2011 to score 12 goals in 77 Bundesliga appearances.

"I feel very well at Mainz and I have yet no reached the end of my development. I am sure that I can take the next step with Mainz and coach Martin Schmidt," the 23-year-old midfielder said.

Mainz occupy currently the 12th position of the table. They encounter newly promoted Cologne on home soil at the 33rd round of Bundesliga on Saturday. Endite
