Roundup: Five dead in shooting incident in northern Switzerland

Xinhua, May 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Police confirmed on Sunday that five dead bodies were found when neighbors alerted authorities after hearing shots fired late Saturday night in Wurenlingen, canton of Aargau in northern Switzerland.

Aargau criminal police head Markus Gisin told media on Sunday that the victims were found at two different locations within the same residential neighborhood.

The attack was carried out by a 36-year-old man who shot himself after murdering four individuals.

Law enforcement authorities have reported that the victims include the killer's father and mother-in-law (58 and 57 respectively), his brother-in-law (32), as well as a 46-year-old man whose links to the crime-scene are yet to be determined.

A handgun was used to carry out the shooting, which is believed to have ensued following a family dispute according to Swiss authorities.

According to local media, the killer, father of three, was living in canton Schwyz separately from his wife and children and did not own a gun license.

An investigation has been instigated by the prosecutor's office following the events which took place in the northern town of some 4,500 inhabitants, located some 30 km northwest of Zurich.

This is not the first time the German-speaking town has borne witness to such an event: in 1985, an estate agent killed his partner's lover and two prostitutes, very close to where Saturday's events took place. Endti
