Thailand crowned at AFF Women's Championship

Thailand edged Myanmar 3-2 here Sunday evening to claim the title of the 2015 AFF Women's Championship.

Hoping to bring home the trophy, the two teams entered a life-and-death struggle. Thai 29-year-old striker Kanjana Sung Ngoen emerged as a bright star. She actively ran along the wing to pick up passes. Meanwhile, her Myanmar counterpart Yee Yee Oo also performed very well.

In the 37th minute, Kanjana Sung Ngoen broke the deadlock, defeating Myanmar 29-year-old goalie Mya Phu Ngon.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Myanmar 26-year-old midfielder Khin Moe Wai tied the score in the goal box.

However, in the 65th minute, Thai striker Nisa made a spectacular header off a cross from her teammate, beating goalie Mya Phu Ngon, gifting Thailand a 2-1 lead.

Six minutes later, Myanmar 20-year-old striker Win Theingi Tun equalized again.

In the 75th minute, Thai 26-year-old striker Rattikan Thongsombut score with a stiff grounder, sealing the 3-2 win.

Thailand head coach Nuengrutai Srathonvian said after the final match: "It is wonderful to win. It is the right restorative ahead our presence at the FIFA World Cup next month."

Before the final match, Australia U-23 defeated hosts Vietnam 4-3 to rank third.

Thailand, Australia U-20, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines, competed at the 2015 AFF Women's Championship. In the previous AFF Women's Championship in Myanmar in 2013, Japan finished first, and Australia took the second. Endi
