Xinhua, May 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

British Prime Minister David Cameron re-appointed George Osborne, Theresa May and Philip Hammond as senior members of his new Cabinet on Friday after decisively winning the country's national elections.

Osborne will serve as British Chancellor of the Exchequer and will also be the First Secretary of State, the equivalent to deputy prime minister.

Osborne served as British Chancellor throughout Cameron's first five-year term. During that time, the country's economy recovered from the financial crisis. The economic growth sped up in 2013 and 2014.

Cameron also confirmed on Twitter that Theresa May and Philip Hammond remain in their respective posts of Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary.

Further cabinet appointments were expected later on Friday. Endit
