Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday congratulated British Prime Minister David Cameron on his re-election, as well as his Conservative Party for winning the clear majority in parliament in Thursday's elections in the country.

In a statement, the Nigerian leader expressed hope that both countries would continue to strengthen current bilateral cooperation between them in critical areas, such as the fight against insurgency and terrorism, trade, achievement of Nigeria's development targets and education.

Jonathan, who will leave office as Nigerian president on May 29, also wished Cameron a very successful new term in office while urging him to serve the people of Britain and the global community to the best of his abilities. Endi
