American Airlines launches Beijing-Dallas flight

Xinhua, May 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

American Airlines on Friday started operating a new nonstop flight between Beijing Capital International Airport and the airline's largest hub, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, using a three-class Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

Flight AA89 takes off from Dallas at 11:20 a.m. local time and arrives in Beijing at 2:15 p.m. the next day, while AA88 takes off from Beijing at 4:25 p.m. and arrives in Dallas at 4:45 p.m. local time.

From June 3, the airline will use a two-class 787-8 for the service, the first international route to be served by this aircraft by American Airlines.

"American Airlines has grown significantly in China in the past 12 months. This new service will open new connecting opportunities for Chinese passengers traveling across the United States and Latin America," said Erwan Perhirin, the airline's Asia-Pacific vice president.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, some 6.13 million passenger trips were made by air between China and the United States in 2014, and that number is expected to expand by around 15 percent annually in the coming years on the back of increasing flights between the two countries.
