Vietnamese Prime Minister has approved a plan on strengthening transport connectivity within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by 2020 and vision to 2030.

The plan puts forward measures to increase investment in transport infrastructure construction, border transport connectivity, development of human resource, as well as enhance capacity in ensuring road traffic, aviation and maritime safety, among others, according to the website of Vietnamese government on Friday.

Specifically, in order to improve quality of road transportation service, the plan encourage enterprises to modernize road vehicles and increase technical standards over road transport in line with those of other ASEAN members.

Regarding maritime transport, the plan sets priority on improving capacity of national fleet, boosting connection of key seaports, and developing maritime tourism.

On aviation, the plan sets out measures to enhance capacity of domestic airlines which can join the ASEAN unity aviation market, striving to participate in the aviation market connecting ASEAN-EU, ASEAN-China, ASEAN-India, ASEAN-South Korea, among others.

The plan also supports expanding the participation of budget airlines in domestic aviation sector. Endi
