Uganda improves in latest FIFA rankings

Regional giants of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa), Uganda have improved in the latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) rankings released on Thursday.

The rankings released at the World Football headquarters in Zurich saw Uganda move a place better to 71st position with 485 points.

"We are happy to keep improving and also be the best ranked nation in the Cecafa region," said Uganda FA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson.

Rwanda also improved by a place better to 73. The other nations from the Cecafa region Sudan surprisingly remained in 111th place on the rankings, while Ethiopia are at 101th.

Algeria who reached the knock out stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil remain the best ranked African team in number 20, while African Champions Cote' Ivoire are 22 and Ghana in 26 place.

World Champions Germany have maintained their lead on the rankings, while Argentina are in second place and Belgium third. Colombia are in fourth place, while former giants Brazil are fifth. Endi
