Airbus reports largest order in Latin America aviation history by Avianca

Xinhua, May 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Colombian Airline Avianca has confirmed its order for 100 A320neo family aircraft, the largest single order ever made in Latin America's aviation history, said Airbus Tuesday.

Worth about 10 billion U.S. dollars at catalogue prices, this order for A319neo, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, will allow Avianca to maintain one of the youngest fleets in the region as the airline aims to replace airplanes currently operating from their Bogota, Lima and San Salvador hubs, according to a statement by Airbus.

"This contract reinforces the relationship between Airbus and the second largest airline in Latin America. It also represents an important step in the development of our relations with Colombia," said French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in a statement.

A latest version of the A320 family, the A320neo family totaled more than 3,600 orders from 70 customers worldwide since its implementation in 2010, with 60 percent of the market share, said Airbus. Endit
