Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Former President Mahinda Rajapakse held key talks on Wednesday which was seen as an attempt to bridge a division which has emerged within the same party which both politicians belong to.

The meeting, the first since Sirisena defeated Rajapakse in the Jan.8 presidential elections, took place at the parliament complex in the presence of several members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). (Sri Lanka-President-Talks)

KATHMANDU -- The death toll from last Saturday's earthquake in Nepal rose to 7,675 on Wednesday, according to the country's Home Ministry.

"Death toll climbs to 7,675, and a total of 7,583 bodies were handed over; another 16,390 were injured, among them 6,081 were under treatment; 384 people were missing, including 271 Nepalese and 13 foreigners," said the Home Ministry in its latest update on Wednesday evening. (Nepal-Quake Toll)

KATHMANDU -- World Health Organization (WHO) played down the risks of an epidemic outbreak in Nepal on Wednesday amid widespread fears that unseasonal rain and looming monsoon may pose greater challenge to this earthquake-torn country 's fragile health system.

MUARA PORT, Brunei -- The Brunei Economic Development Board ( BEDS) and China Harbor Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) on Wednesday signed a contract and held a groundbreaking ceremony here for the construction of Pulau Muara Besar Bridge, Road and Utilities in the country.

The 204 million U.S. dollar-contract was awarded to CHEC, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited ( CCCC) through an open tender process. (Brunei-China-Construction)

ISLAMABAD -- At least two persons were killed and 10 others were injured on Wednesday evening in a suicide attack during a football match in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region of Kurram Agency, local media reported.
