DPRK-China traditional friendship promotes bilateral ties: DPRK official

Xinhua, May 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

The traditional friendly relationship between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and China is a precious treasure for both countries, a senior DPRK official said Wednesday.

Meeting with Chinese Ambassador Li Jinjun, Yang Hyong Sop, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, said the traditional friendship was forged by the older generations of leaders of both countries.

Yang expected Li to make positive contributions to promoting bilateral relations in his term of office.

Li stressed that China and the DPRK should both carry forward the traditional friendship and be future-oriented.

"China and the DPRK, linked by mountains and rivers, are friendly neighbors as close as lips and teeth," Li said, adding China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations are valuable wealth of the two peoples.

In this new era, the development of China-DPRK ties faces new historic opportunities given the new situation, he added. Endi
