Cologne's Nigerian striker Ujah joins Werder Bremen

Xinhua, May 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cologne's striker Anthony Ujah will join league rivals Werder Bremen at the end of the season, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed on Tuesday.

The Nigerian international passed the medical a few days ago before he penned a four-year deal to reinforce the "Green-Whites" offense next season. Newly promoted Cologne will thus lose their top scorer, who marked ten goals this season so far.

"We intensively observed him for a long time to get a comprehensive picture. He is fast and prolific striker who still can evolve with us," Bremen's sporting director Thomas Eichin said.

Bremen's new arrival joined Cologne in 2012 to provide ten assists and 34 goals in overall 104 appearances.

"Anthony has a great profile, he plays with a lot of passion, is powerful and strong in the air. We are convinced that Anthony Ujah fits into our style of play," Bremen's director of professional soccer and scouting Rouven Schroeder added.

Ujah's current side Cologne sit currently on the 11th place in the standings meanwhile Bremen still battle for an UEFA Europa League berth.

The 24-year-old striker made his first international debut for the "Super Eagles" against Mexico in June 2013. He made overall five caps to date. Endi
