Fears of major tsunamis have been dramatically downgraded after an earthquake rocked the ocean floor 150 kilometers south of Papua New Guinea on Tuesday.

Alerts were immediately issued after the 7.4-magnitude quake, but the tsunami threat has largely passed, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center's latest advisory. Endi
