Afghan forces kill 26 militants in southern Zabul province

Afghan security forces have killed more than two dozen Taliban militants during operations in southern Zabul province over the past two days, a local official said on Monday.

"Security forces have pounded insurgents' positions in Shahjoi and Siori districts from ground and air since Sunday and so far 26 rebels have been killed," spokesman for Zabul provincial government Gul Islam Sayal told Xinhua.

Seven more militants have been injured, he added.

The official didn't say if there were casualties on the security personnel.

Taliban militants who launched their so-called spring offensive on April 24 are yet to make comment. Endi
