Xinhua, May 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Filipino terrorist Basit Usman was killed in a firefight in southern Philippines, presidential communications secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said on Sunday.

The government is still awaiting the full report of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Coloma said.

"According to AFP field operatives, terror suspect Basit Usman was killed in a firefight in Guindulungan, Maguindanao, at around noon today. We are awaiting the submission of the AFP's after- operations report which is forthcoming," he said.

Usman was the second target of the operations conducted by the police to capture Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, on Jan. 25 this year where more than 60 persons died including 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force. Endi
