The death toll from last week's powerful earthquake in Nepal has reached 6,659 with as many as 14, 062 others injured, the country's home ministry said on Saturday.

Ruling out media reports that more than 1,000 foreigners were missing in the quake-rattled nation, the Nepalese police said those among the killed included 76 foreigners and 204 more foreigners remain unaccounted for. (Nepal-Quake)

PYONGYANG -- A South Korean student with permanent residency in the United States was arrested on April 22 for his attempt to illegally enter the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the official KCNA news agency reported Saturday.

The report identified the suspect as Won Moon Joo, a 21-year-old student of New York University living in New Jersey, adding that he was caught trying to enter the DPRK after crossing the Yalu River from Dandong, a Chinese border city. (DPRK-South Korea-Illegal Entry)

DAMASCUS -- The death toll of the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition against a northern Syrian town rose to at least 52 people, a monitor group reported Saturday.

The airstrikes were carried out early Friday against the town of Beirmhali in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Coalition)

BUJUMBURA -- At least three persons including two policemen and a civilian died and 17 others were injured in two separate grenade attacks against police posts in the Burundian capital Bujumbura on Friday night.
