Britain's Duchess of Cambridge Kate gave birth to a girl Saturday morning, adding the newest member to the British Royal Family.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8:34 a.m.," Kensington Palace announced.

The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz (about 3.76 kg). The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to the baby at St. Mary's Hospital in west London, where the newborn's elder brother Prince George, Prince William and Prince Harry were also born.

Kensington Palace said the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted at 6:00 a.m. local time (500 GMT)to the hospital, and traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital.

The newborn princess is now the fourth in line to the British throne, behind brother George, father William and grandfather Prince Charles. Endi
