China pavilion, the country's first self-built overseas Expo pavilion and also the second largest foreign one next to Germany's at Expo Milano 2015, opened to the public on Friday with a duration of six months in Milan.

PYONGYANG -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday slammed the United States for its attempt to deploy in South Korea the terminal high altitude area defense system, said the official KCNA news agency.
"The ulterior aim sought by the U.S. ... is to forward-deploy high-performance radar in South Korea in order to rapidly monitor and chase the movements of missiles of the rivals in the Eurasian region," a spokesman for the Disarmament and Peace Institute under the DPRK Foreign Ministry said in a statement released by the KCNA. SANAA -- At least 21 civilians were killed when an overnight air strike by Saudi-led coalition forces mistook its target in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, medics and residents told Xinhua on Friday.
"So far, 21 civilians, among them eight members from one family, were killed and 11 others wounded when a midnight Saudi-led air raid bombed a populated residential neighborhood of Sawan area," a medic said. (Yemen-Saudi-Attacks)

BAMAKO -- Four people were killed and 28 others injured on Thursday after their vehicle stepped on a landmine in Gao (northeast Mali), hospital sources in the area told Xinhua.

KABUL -- A clash between Taliban militants and government forces claimed the lives of eight armed insurgents and injured 19 others including five civilians in Laghman province with Mehterlam as its capital, 90 km east of national capital Kabul on Friday, a statement of provincial government said.
"A group of militants raided a checkpoint of local police on Shahid Baba area in Alinegar district at 04:30 a.m. local time today and police retaliated as a result of gun battle which lasted for a while, killing eight insurgents," the statement said. (Afghanistan-Clash-Taliban)

KATHMANDU -- The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Nepal climbed to 6,204 and a total of 13,932 others were injured, the Home Ministry said on Friday.
Sindhupalchowk is the worst-hit district with 1,820 people killed after the 7.9-magnitude quake hit Nepal on Apirl 25, according to the National Emergency Operation Center under the ministry. (Nepal-Quake-Casualties)Endi
