Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan on Friday confirmed that all Irish citizens in Nepal have been accounted for since the deadly earthquake on Saturday last week.
Flanagan said his department had been notified of some 170 Irish citizens in the region affected.
"The Emergency Consular Response Team worked with officials at our embassy in New Delhi to ensure that all citizens were accounted for," he said.
"Late last night the Emergency Consular Response Team made contact with the final Irish citizen who was outstanding on their list," he added.
The Irish minister said that the embassy in New Delhi is in ongoing contact with a number of people yet to leave Nepal, while many of the Irish citizens in question have now returned to Ireland.
More than 6,000 people had been killed in the powerful earthquake, according to the Nepalese authorities. Endit
