Tokyo shares end mixed ahead weeklong holiday

Xinhua, May 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares ended mixed on Friday with the Nikkei index inching up on seeking bargains, while the sentiment was also punched by gains cash-in ahead of a weeklong holiday here.

The 225-issue Nikkei inched up 11.62 points, or 0.06 percent, from Thursday at 19,531.63.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 7.18 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,585.61.

Decliners were led by real estate, warehousing and metal product issues, while food stocks gained.

The turnover was about 2,607.3 billion yen (about 21.78 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
