Fan beats Niwa in table tennis worlds

Youth Olympics champion Fan Zhendong handed a five-set loss to Koki Niwa at the world table tennis championships on Friday.

The 18-year-old world No. 4 beat 12th-ranked Japanese 11-5, 12-14, 11-2, 11-2, 11-9 and reached the men's singles quarter-finals.

He will take on the winner between German Timo Boll and Hong Kong player Wong Chun Ting on Saturday. Endi
