The leaders of France, Germany, Ukraine and Russia discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine over the phone on Thursday, according to a statement by the French presidential office.
French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin said the violation of the ceasefire and the fighting near Marioupol, Chtchastia, Donetsk Airport and Chirokino zone should stop. BUJUMBURA -- Visiting United Nations (UN) special envoy to the Great Lakes region, Said Djinnit on Thursday called for restraint in the protests against Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza seeking a third term which have left two people dead.
"There have been incidents of great concern to the UN secretary- general and the UN Security Council on Burundi's current situation. Our appeal is to exercise restraint on both sides. The government (of Burundi) should not use excessive force and protesters should demonstrate peacefully," said Djinnit after a meeting with Burundi's First Vice-President Prosper Bazombanza. UNITED NATIONS -- The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Thursday that the death toll of Nepal earthquake stands at nearly 5,600 people, according to a spokesman for UN Secretary General.
The OCHA cited Nepal government sources saying that more than 11,100 people have been injured, deputy UN spokesman Farhan Haq said at a daily news briefing here. (UN-Nepal-Quake)

WASHINGTON -- A preliminary probe into the death of the 25-year-old black man Freddie Gray indicated that Gray sustained the spinal cord injury that later led to his death not during the police arrest but during his riding in the police van, U.S. media reported Thursday.
According to a Baltimore local TV station affiliated with the U. S. TV network ABC News, law enforcement sources familiar with the preliminary report, which was handed over to the State attorneys Thursday morning, said medical examiner found Gray's deadly injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police van during transportation. ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan army said on Thursday that five soldiers and 27 militants have been killed in clashes in Khyber tribal over the past 24 hours.
