Xinhua, May 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Japan's core inflation picked up for the first time in 10 months in March which saw consumer prices rise 2.2 percent from a year earlier for the 22nd straight monthly increase, the government said Friday.

The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, stood at 103.0 against the 2010 base of 100, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.

The consumption tax hike in April last year has pushed the inflation rate up by about 2 percentage points, local news agency Kyodo reported, quoting the Bank of Japan. Endi
