Rio 2016 extends ticketing deadline

Xinhua, May 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The deadline for Brazilian residents to apply for the first batch of Rio 2016 tickets has been extended to May 6, organizers said on Thursday.

The original April 30 cut-off was pushed back following Thursday's announcement that Sao Paulo's Itaquerao stadium would host Olympic football matches.

Brazilian residents will be able to enter two draws for Olympic tickets, but only those who apply in the first draw will be eligible for the second.

Non-residents of Brazil can purchase tickets via authorized resellers in their territory.

The Itaquerao joins the Maracana and Olympic Stadium (Rio de Janeiro), Fonte Nova Arena (Salvador), Amazonia Arena (Manaus), Mane Garrincha Stadium (Brasilia) and Mineirao (Belo Horizonte) as Rio 2016 football host venues. Endi
