Realization of "Chinese Dream" to boost Sino-Bulgarian ties: ambassador

The realization of the "Chinese Dream" would boost Sino-Bulgarian relations, Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Wei Jinghua said here Thursday.

The ambassador made the remarks while delivering a speech at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE).

"The implementation of the Chinese dream will be a favorable factor for comprehensive and healthy development of the friendly relations between China and Bulgaria," he said, in the speech entitled "On Chinese Dream: the Silk Road Economic Belt."

In the Big Conference Hall of UNWE, which boats the eldest higher educational institution of Economics in Bulgaria as well as in Southeastern Europe, Wei said that Chinese people in the process of national rejuvenation hopes to enhance traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between both countries.

"Bulgaria is an important country located on the economic belt of the Silk Road," he said.

He believed that following the gradual development of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria, would benefit greatly.

China and Bulgaria would face plenty of opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure, Wei said.

Bulgarian figures showed that during the period 2004-Q3 2014, the Chinese investment in Bulgaria reached 156 million U.S. dollars, and China was Bulgaria's third largest export and import partner outside the European Union in 2014, with export and import totalling 588 million dollars and 951 million dollars respectively.
