French stock market index down 2.59 pct on Wednesday

The French stock market benchmark index CAC 40 closed with a steep decrease of 2.59 percent at 5,039.39 points on Wednesday, down 133.99 points.

Affected by the slow-down of the economy in the United States and the rebound of the euro, the CAC 40 closed lower on Wednesday. All of the 40 selected companies experienced decrease.

The three companies whose stocks plummeted most on Wednesday were ArcelorMittal, down 4.31 percent, Alcatel-Lucent, down 4.28 percent, and Peugeot, down 4.13 percent.

In the previous trading day, the CAC 40 closed with a decrease of 1.81 percent at 5,173.38 points, down 95.52 points. Endit
