The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Nepal has risen to 5,057, and a total of 10,915 others were injured, said the Ministry of Home Affairs Tuesday.

KABUL -- The Taliban outfit's massive offensive in the northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan has been repulsed and the armed militants after leaving more than 50 dead bodies behind have been forced to retreat, officials said.
Police spokesman in Kunduz province, Sayed Sarwar Hussaini in talks with media on Tuesday confirmed that more than 50 armed insurgents had been killed over the past four days in different parts of Kunduz province and the outfit faced major setback in Imam Sahib district after killing their commander Mullah Mustafa by security forces there. DAMASCUS -- Syrian government forces eliminated dozens of "terrorists" in several hotspots in the country, the official SANA news agency reported Tuesday.
Government troops ambushed a rebel group near the town of Buraq, some 2 km from the Swaida city, eliminating and arresting a large number of them and confiscating their weapons, said SANA. (Syria-Rebels)

KABUL -- More than 50 people were killed and several others missing following a landslide in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Tuesday, an official said.
