Ukraine hopes to attract 3 bln USD of foreign investment in 2015

Xinhua, April 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said Tuesday that his country hopes to attract about 3 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment this year.

"We are anticipating the investments from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and other financial institutions," Yatsenyuk said while addressing the International Support For Ukraine Conference.

To encourage foreign investment, Kiev will intensify its efforts to facilitate reform process and will strive to end the conflict in eastern regions, Yatsenyuk said.

The prime minister listed his country's energy and agriculture sectors as the priority spheres to invest in.

In 2014, the inflow of foreign investment into Ukraine totaled 2.45 billion dollars, while withdrawal reached 1.17 billion dollars.

The International Support For Ukraine Conference kicked off in Kiev earlier on Tuesday to raise funds for the struggling Ukrainian economy. A total of 500 envoys from more than 50 countries are participating in the event. Endi
