Export outlook for German manufacturing falls slightly in April

Xinhua, April 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Export forecasts for German manufacturing in April falls slightly after six consecutive rises, research group Ifo institute announced on Monday.

The outlook value in April declines to 11.3 balance points from 12.1 balance points in March, the think tank said.

According to Ifo president Hans-Werner Sinn, despite this downturn, the majority of companies still expect its sales abroad to rise.

Automotive manufacturers are also expecting a slight setback to their export growth, while a similar situation prevails in mechanical engineering, metal production and processing and the pharmaceutical industry.

Meanwhile, companies in the chemical industry, electronics and food and beverages segment reported additional stimuli from exports, according to Ifo.

The Ifo business climate index is considered the most important barometer for the German economy. Endit
