A pedestrian was involved in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon at the city center of Munich, where she got hit by a car and fatally injured.

According a police spokesperson, the pedestrian is about 50 years old and she was brought to hospital immediately after the accident in front of the Bavarian state opera house, but it was too late and she died.

A 23-year-old driver from the district of Rosenheim had overlooked another car when he turned his car at high speed and collided with another one.

Then he lost control of his car and the car crashed into the crowd, killing one and injuring himself and another passerby seriously, according to the spokesperson.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. Endit
